STATEMENT OF MARK CORALLO, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS,
REGARDING THE SUPREME COURT’S GRANT OF CERTIORARI IN
THE NATIONAL ENERGY POLICY DEVELOPMENT GROUP CASE:

“It is important that the President’s constitutional authority to gather candid advice from his advisors be respected, and we are pleased that the Supreme Court will consider issues critical to the effective functioning of the Presidency and the Vice Presidency.

“The Administration's energy plan is available to the public for anyone to review and the Administration has provided 36,000 additional pages of documents relating to its development. To allow further discovery into the advice provided by the President’s closest advisers would upset the ability of the President and Vice President to effectively develop strong national policy.”
