CHRONOLOGY

1956	Yields of Trinity (21 Kt), Hiroshima (Little Boy 15 Kt), and Nagasaki (Fat Man 21 Kt) declassified.
May 1998	As part of Fundamental Classification Policy Review, DOE and DoD agree that Maximum Credible, Design, and Test Yields should remain classified
May 1993	"DOE believes that historical stockpile information, e.g., retired systems, should be declassified, including yield information. However, remaining information about current active systems, including yields needs to be classified...."
June 1994	DoD [ATSD(AE) and DNA] approved total yield of stockpile indicated by years for years 1945 to 1994, provided: "....we do not reveal the yields of individual weapons either active, or previously retired or dismantled."

STATUS

No ongoing actions to declassify yields of retired or dismantled weapons
