• Aum Cult Implicated in Theft of Classified Nuclear Information, Itar-Tass News Agency, March 29. "Japan's doomsday cult Aum Shinri Kyo got hold of massive classified information about nuclear installations of Russia, Ukraine and several other countries, Tokyo's police department said."
• Statement of Rep. Tim Roemer on "A Classified Intelligence Program", during House debate on the emergency supplemental appropriations bill, March 29. "There is a particular intelligence activity funded by this bill which I cannot support."
• Statement of Gen. Eugene Habiger on DOE FY 2001 Budget Request before the Senate Appropriations Committee, March 28. "The declassification budget request for FY 2001 represents a 25% increase over the FY 2000 funding level. The majority of this increase is required to audit an additional 450 million pages of documents at the National Archives which have already been declassified by other agencies and designated for release by NARA."
• Statement of Fred C. Ikle on Nuclear Proliferation before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, March 23. "Export controls and secrecy, in the long run, are ineffectual barriers to proliferation because of the intertwining of peaceful technologies and weapons technologies."

"It is incomprehensible that the Department of Energy [granted] concurrence on the public release of this information in two prior instances, yet [it] now has questions about [release of] some of the same material."

"It has just come to our attention that most copies of the Standard Form 86 distributed during the last half of 1999 have numerous typographical errors, and must be destroyed and replaced."
• AAAS Letter to Janet Reno Concerning the Pre-Trial Incarceration of Wen Ho Lee, from Irving A. Lerch, Chair, Committee on Scientific Freedom and Responsibility of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. "From our perspective, Dr. Lee's pretrial treatment appears to be exceedingly cruel."
• APS Letter to Janet Reno Concerning the Pre-Trial Incarceration of Wen Ho Lee, from James S. Langer, President, American Physical Society, February 28. "The extraordinarily harsh conditions under which he is detained suggest to the outside world that he is presumed guilty, and is being punished, before his trial has even begun."
