- Aum Cult Implicated in Theft of Classified Nuclear Information, Itar-Tass News Agency, March 29. "Japan's doomsday cult Aum Shinri Kyo got hold of massive classified information about nuclear installations of Russia, Ukraine and several other countries, Tokyo's police department said."
- Statement of Rep. Tim Roemer on "A Classified Intelligence Program", during House debate on the emergency supplemental appropriations bill, March 29. "There is a particular intelligence activity funded by this bill which I cannot support."
- Statement of Gen. Eugene Habiger on DOE FY 2001 Budget Request before the Senate Appropriations Committee, March 28. "The declassification budget request for FY 2001 represents a 25% increase over the FY 2000 funding level. The majority of this increase is required to audit an additional 450 million pages of documents at the National Archives which have already been declassified by other agencies and designated for release by NARA."
